With Islamic extremists executing more and more small attacks across the world, the issue of exterminating radical extremism and the terrorist acts that come with it is more important than ever. Yet the United States and its laughably incompetent commander in chief continue to let radical Islam creep further and further toward dangerous levels of privilege.
But U.K. prime minister David Cameron is setting an example for the whole world to follow with his new anti-extremism initiative.
The Conservative Tribune reports:
On July 20, U.K. Prime Minister David Cameron delivered a stunning speech in Birmingham in which he referred to Muslim extremism as the “struggle of our generation” and unveiled a landmark five-year plan designed to once and for all drive it out his country.
“What we are fighting, in Islamist extremism, is an ideology,” the bold prime minister declared. “It is an extreme doctrine. And like any extreme doctrine, it is subversive.”
His willingness to admit the existence of radical Islam in itself put him miles ahead of President Barack Obama. But that was just the tip of the iceberg.
His plan called for tackling extremism in British prisons, demanding that Internet service providers remove extremist content from the Web, studying how extremism spreads, fighting back against the radicalization of the U.K.’s youth and confronting Islam with “our strongest weapon — our own liberal values.”
Cameron’s brilliant plan also called for fighting back against something we see a lot of in the United States: “grievance justification.”
“When they say that these are wronged Muslims getting revenge on their Western wrongdoers, let’s remind them: from Kosovo to Somalia, countries like Britain have stepped in to save Muslim people from massacres,” Cameron said.
Now compare this forthright rhetoric to the way in which Obama once insinuated that Christianity is no better than Islam because “during the Crusades and the Inquisition, people committed terrible deeds in the name of Christ.”
Whereas Obama made excuses for jihadis, Cameron reminded folks that Westerners have often gone out of their way to help Muslims.
Cameron also promised money for those individuals and groups willing to fight against radical Islam by spreading an “alternative narrative.” (H/T Islamist Watch)
In one speech, Cameron managed to do more for the fight against radical Islam than President Barack Hussein Obama has done in seven years in the White House.
Now if we could only get a leader like Cameron into office in the U.S. in 2016. The leader of the free world should be fighting dangerous extremists, not making excuses for them and condoning their actions.
