Trump has his fair share of detesters. Even many members of his own party can’t stand him, including 2014 Republican Presidential Nominee Mitt Romney.
Seemingly out of nowhere, Romney went on the attack against Trump. He started demanding Trump release his tax records. Then he attacked Trump’s policies. Finally, he resorted to criticizing Trump’s personal character.
Obviously, a lot of Trump supporters thought Romney’s actions were totally out of line, and a lot of people couldn’t figure out why Romney even decided to get involved in the first place. After all, he’s not running for president, so he’s got no dog in this race. Why can’t he leave the mud slinging up the other candidates?
Each and every one of those questions was answered when Romney spoke out recently though. He went on NBC’s “Today” to set the record straight on why he made the decision to step out against Trump, and you might feel a little differently once you hear what he had to say.
Breitbart has more:
“I’ve wanted to be involved in the campaign, if you will, as a bit of a referee. When there were some foul balls, be able to call them and see if I can’t keep people guided on the path to becoming our next president. But the time came when Donald Trump’s outrage had reached such a level that I simply had to speak out. You get to the point where you say, your grandkids are going to say to you, ‘Papa, what did you do to stop Donald Trump?’ I had to finally get out and speak,”
What do you think? Was it Romney’s place to do what he did?
