In a disappointing, but not at all shocking, turn of events, Qatar has decided to ban DC’s Wonder Woman film because it features outspoken Israeli actress, Gal Gadot.
According to The Jerusalem Post:
The film had been scheduled to premiere in Qatar Thursday and was being promoted by local theater chains VOX Cinemas Qatar and Novo Cinemas. But in the days before its scheduled release, the film was removed from cinema websites, Doha News reported.
As The Daily Wire previously reported, the Muslim-majority nations of Lebanon and Tunisia also banned the release of Wonder Woman in theaters.
Gadot served in the Israeli Defense Forces and is a vocal advocate for Israel. In the summer of 2014, she posted the following to her Facebook:
I am sending my love and prayers to my fellow Israeli citizens. Especially to all the boys and girls who are risking their lives protecting my country against the horrific acts conducted by Hamas, who are hiding like cowards behind women and children. … We shall overcome!!! Shabbat Shalom! #weareright #freegazafromhamas #stopterror #coexistance #loveidf
This prompted strong rebukes from Israel-haters around the world.
If there is any silver lining to this disgusting situation, it’s this: Now that Gadot has become an international superstar, those who had previously hated her in secret are being forced to reveal their anti-Semitic, anti-Israeli sentiments for the world to see.
