According to reports by The Guardian, the Chinese did not treat President Obama very well as he arrived in Hangzhou, China to attend the G-20 summit.
First up, the Chinese authorities did not provide a red carpet staircase for the president. This forced Obama to come down from his plane using its rear-end exit. Insulting, isn’t it?
Bill Bishop, a retired college professor and an expert on China, commenting on this incident said it was not a mistake. According to him, it was all planned, in order “to make the Americans look diminished and weak.” He said.
He added, “This clearly plays very much into the [idea]: ‘Look, we can make the American president go out of the a– of the plane,’”
Looks like China were unapologetically rude.
But wait- that’s not the only disrespect the US faced. When President Obama finally got down to the tarmac, another issue flared up. The Chinese officials asked any journalists traveling with the President to leave immediately.
When White House officials denied the request, claiming it was their plane and president, the Chinese officials did not concede. In fact, an unidentified Chinese Government official was found yelling,
“This is our country! This is our airport!”
Here’s a tweet by Roberta Rampton, commenting on the incident:
Mexico’s former ambassador to China, Jorge Guajardo, while speaking to reporters said that what happened- from the staircase drama to the arguments at the tarmac- was not accidental; it was indeed, deliberate.
He said, “These things do not happen by mistake,” adding, “Not with the Chinese … It’s a snub. It’s a way of saying: ‘You know, you’re not that special to us.’”
Well, now we know how much respect America has left, since Mr. Obama has taken over the White House. Being subtle in disapproving another country is one thing, but what the Chinese did was downright hostile. This indicates the level of disrespect they have for the United States- thanks to Obama.
Wonder what GOP’s presidential candidate Donald Trump would do, if put in a situation like this? We do too. It will certainly different from Obama’s reaction- who let it all just happen.
