Sharia Law dictates that Muslims stop whatever they’re doing at certain times of the day and week for mandatory prayer. However, it doesn’t say anything about where to leave your car if you happen to be driving when the moment hits.
And unfortunately for Islamic NYC taxi drivers, the police aren’t particularly sympathetic.
When dozens of Muslim taxi drivers abandoned their cars in the middle of the road outside an Islamic Cultural Center in NYC, law enforcement went on a ticketing spree that ruffled quite a few feathers.
The Conservative Tribune reports:
“I can’t help but think they are being prejudiced,” Muslim taxi driver Mohammad Zaman complained to reporters. “They don’t understand. We have to be here.”
Another unnamed cabby basically insinuated that Shariah law trumps conventional American law by alleging that “it is mandatory” for Muslims to pray at the mosque on Friday. He also claimed that “other places are okay with double parking,” which I guess means that illegal behavior should be accepted everywhere.
This is a clear cut example of how American Muslims really feel – deep down that their law is superior to ours. What does that mean for us? Tell us what you think in the comments.
